Government Religious Committee leader extends congratulations to 15th Congress of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc paid on October 3 a congratulatory visit to the 15th Congress of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops’ Conference (CBCV) held in Hanoi Archdiocese.

The GCRA official accompanied by Director of the GCRA’s Catholic Affairs Department Đinh Quang Tiến was welcomed by Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, President of the CBCV, Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng of Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese, and Archbishop Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên of Hanoi Archdiocese.

Speaking during the visit, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc highlighted practical contributions of Catholic community for the socio-economic development in the country over the past years. He took the chance to inform results of working visit of the Home Affair Ministry and the GCRA to Chile and Cuba in September, which included meetings with Archbishop Celestino Aós Braco, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Chile, the Cuban Council of Churches, and a visit Saint Lazarus Church.

 While wishing successes to the congress of the CBCV and the election of its leading personnel, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc expressed hope that the CBCV would continue encouraging lay parishioners to make practical contributions for the development of the country, and closely accompany the nation, contributing to together with people to build a prosperous country for  the goal of a rich people, strong country, democracy, justice, and civilization.

On behalf of the CBCV, President Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh took the chance to thank floral congratulations of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the GCRA, and expressed hope that the Government, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the GCRA would continue creating favorable conditions for activities of the Vietnam Catholic Church in general and the CBCV in particular.

The 15th congress of the CBCV runs until October 7 in Hanoi Archdiocese Cathedral.
