Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affair (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng has attended the exchange meeting between the Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and Khmer monks and prestigious people on the occasion of Chol Chnam Thmay festival 2019 held on April 6 in Can Tho city.
During the meeting, the Chairman extended greetings and presented gifts to dignitaries of the Khmer Theravada Buddhism.
On the occasion, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng has accompanied Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc to visit Pali ethnic boarding school in Soc Trang province and Khmer Buddhist institute in Can Tho province.
The GCRA leader has also accompanied Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình to visit Hanh Phuc Tang pagoda in Vinh Long province and Tra Vinh university, and Ang pagoda in Tra Vinh province for extending best wishes to Khmer monks and people.

Chol Chnam Thmay is the traditional New Year Festival of Khmer people often taking during the transitional time between dry season and rainy season. This year festival took place from April 12-14. During the festival, Buddhist monks and Khmer people usually come to each other family for wishing each other a happy, healthy and prosperous life.
