Government religious committee leader attends seminar on dharma preaching overseas

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng attended and delivered an opening speech at the seminar on dharma preaching overseas held from July 31 to August 1 in Hue City.

The event taking place in Tu Dam Pagoda and held by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Commission on Dharma Preaching drew the participation of 300 Buddhist dignitaries, scholars and researchers..

The seminar also saw the presence of Ven. Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice President of the VBS Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Central Commission on Dharma Preaching, and representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the provincial government of Thua Thien – Hue.

Speaking at the seminar, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng highlighted the need for dharma preaching amongst Vietnamese communities in foreign countries and affirmed that the State of Vietnam always support and create favorable conditions for the Buddhist sangha to meet the spiritual need of overseas Vietnamese.

The government religious committee official also asked Buddhist dignitaries preaching dharma overseas to make practical contributions to enhancing people-to-people relations between Vietnam and the world countries.

As reported, the Vietnam Buddhist church currently has 500 pagodas and 22 Buddhist associations in 33 countries and territories.
