Government religious committee leader attends Buddhist New Year ceremony in Thailand

Upon on an invitation from the Thai Royal Ministry of Culture, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng attended the religious ceremony held on December 29-30 in Thailand for welcoming the New Year.  

The event held by the Buddhist Sangha of Thailand under the auspices of the Thai Royal Government attended by representatives from the Buddhist sangha and the government from 12 countries of Vietnam, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Most Venerable President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn represented the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha at the event.

The event took place with the aim of spreading the dharma, praying for peace and happiness, as well as promoting Buddhist cultural exchanges between countries.

On occasion, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng visited and extended congratulations to Most Venerable Thích Thiện Thật, Head of An Nam Buddhist sect – a Vietnam Buddhist sect in Thailand, and Most Venerable Deputy Head of the An Nam sect Thích Minh Ân. During the visiting receptions, the Chairman briefed Buddhist activities in Vietnam over the past years and expressed hope that the An Nam sect would strengthen Buddhist exchanges between Vietnam and Thailand as well as introduce the Buddhist culture of Vietnam to Thai people.
