Government religious committee leader attends art program honoring heroic mothers

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in collaboration with the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) held an art program promoting patriotism and gratitude to Vietnamese mothers on August 10 at Au Co Theater.

The event themed “Proud of Country - Vietnam Mother” saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council, Most Venerable Vice President of VBS’s Executive Council Thích Gia Quang, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam Nguyễn Thế Kỷ, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng, 10 heroic Vietnamese heroic mothers, and relatives of martyrs and revolutionaries.

Speaking at the program, Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang said that the program aimed to praise cultural values of the country tradition of “drinking water, remembering its source” and the familial piety, as well as pay tribute to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, martyrs, war invalids and those rendered meritorious services to the country.

At the program, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng stated that the Buddhist Parents Day becomes only a Buddhist festival but also a cultural festival, reminding us of our roots and expressing our deep gratitude to their parents and ancestors. 

The GCRA leader also spoke highly of Buddhist social, charitable activities for supporting heroic Vietnamese mothers, policy beneficiaries, orphans, etc and expressed hope that the VBS would continue to make practical contributions to the development of the country.

During the program, the organizing board presented 450 gift boxes, 50 savings accounts valued at VND 800 million to 450 families of heroic Vietnamese mothers and relatives of martyrs, war invalids in Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Thai  Binh and Nghe An.
