Government religious committee holds workshops on Protestant affairs in Gia Lai, Lam Dong

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on April 26 a training conference on Protestant affairs for local officials tasked with the state administration on religion in Gia Lai province.

The event taking place in the province’s Pleiku city drew the participation of 150 district level officials from concerning administrative departments, agencies and border force in the locality.

The training’s opening ceremony also saw the attendance of Vice Chairman of the GCRA Trần Tấn Hùng, Director of the GCRA’s Protestant Affairs Department Thiều Thị Hương and Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Hồ Hải Tần.

During the one-day conference, Vice Chairman Trần Tấn Hùng and Director Thiều Thị Hương delivered presentations of current Protestant practices in Vietnam and key contents of state policies and laws on religion, and guided the implementation of legal regulations on Protestant practices in the province. The training participants also engaged in discussion of practical issues related to the Protestantism in the locality.

Earlier, the government religious committee also held a similar training conference on April 23-24 for over 230 commune-level cadres working on the state governance on religion in Lam Dong province, and another conference on April 27-28 for 200 Protestant dignitaries and deacons in Gia Lai province.

The training conferences aimed to ensure Protestant practices carried out in accordance with the new law on belief and religion and its guiding decree No. 162, both took effect in early January this year.
