The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on July 21-22 a legal workshop in Lai Chau province for guiding religious practices in accordance with the Law on Belief and Religion 2016 for key members of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (ECVN) (North).
The workshop saw the presence of Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Ánh Chức, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tống Thanh Hải and 450 dignitaries and deacons of the ECVN who are ethnic minorities from 12 provinces and cities in the Northern region.
The two-day workshop covered current religious situation, the State’s policies and laws relating religions in general and Protestantism in particular, and guidance for administrative procedures in seeking approval for registration of religious practices.
On the occasion, the GCRA and Lai Chau provincial authorities launched the program for raising the national flag at religious worshipping places and presented 1000 national flags to the Evangelical Church’s representative committees in 12 provinces in the Northern region and local dignitaries and deacons of the Church.
