The Northwest Steering Committee in collaboration with the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a conference on July 8 on Protestant affairs for 2016-2020 period in Yen Bai province.
The conference were co-chaired by Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and Vice Chairwoman of the Northwest Steering Committee Hoàng Thị Hạnh, and attended by representatives of the Home Affairs Ministry, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, and provincial authorities of provinces in Northwest region.

During the conference, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà stressed key tasks of Protestant affairs in the Northwest region and neighboring areas in the coming time. He urged concerning authorities to focus on the dissemination of State policies and laws on religion, registration of places for religious activities, recognition of local organizations under recognized Protestant churches, addressing of issues relating to religious land and worshipping places of the religion, guidance for religious activities of unrecognized Protestant groups and foreigners in Vietnam.
The conference also gave particular comments to a pilot program for recognition of churches in Northwest region.
