Government Religious Committee extends Traditional New Year greetings to the VBS

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Phạm Dũng paid a Tet visit to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) leaders at the Office II (Quang Duc monastery, Distict 3, Ho Chi Minh city) on Feb. 4 ahead of the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year.

Joining the visit were Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and Director of Buddhist Affairs Department Bùi Hữu Dược.

Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn,  Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp, and venerables in the Office II welcomed the GCRA delegation.

Overview of the reception

At the reception, Chairman of the GCRA Phạm Dũng extended Tet wishes to leaders and dignitaries of the VBS and congratulated Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn on his new appointment as the Chairman of the VBS Executive Council at the 3rd conference of the 7th Buddhist General Congress.

Speaking to Chairman Phạm Dũng, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn briefed the VBS’ achievements over the past year and took the chance to thank the GCRA for its support to the successful organization of the UN Vesak Day 2014 in Ninh Binh province. He also conveyed his best wishes to leaders and officials of the GCRA ahead of the Traditional Tet Festival.
