Government religious committee extends pre-Christmas visit to Phan Thiet diocese

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Ánh Chức paid a visit on December 7 to Phan Thiet diocese ahead of Christmas 2021.  

The GCRA Vice Chairman accompanied by Director of the GCRA Sothern Religious Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh was welcomed by Bishop Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng of Phan Thiet.

During the visit, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ánh Chức extended Christmas greetings and a happy New Year to Bishop Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng and Catholics of Phan Thiet diocese.

The GCRA Vice Chairman also highly appreciated practical contributions to the Covid-19 prevention work made by Vietnamese Catholic Church in general, Phan Thiet diocese in particular in the past two years, in which the Catholic Church has donated over 300 billion VND to the epidemic prevention work, allowed Catholic places to be used as quarantine centers, and sent over 1,500 priests, clergymen and clergywomen to joint the frontline medical force for treatment of Covid-19 patients..

Bishop Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng took the chance to thank the visiting delegation, and informed the guests activities launched by Phan Thiet diocese in response to Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc's call to plant one billion trees in the 2021-2025 period. Accordingly, the diocese has presented each parish in the diocese with 12 perennial trees for planting in parishes’ church.
