On January 28, a delegation from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) led by Acting Director of Catholic Affairs Department Lê Minh Khánh visited Hai Phong diocese on occasion of the upcoming traditional New Year (Tet festival).
Welcoming the delegation included Bishop Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên and priests of Hai Phong diocese.
On behalf of the GCRA’s leaders, Acting Director Lê Minh Khánh extended Tet wishes to bishop, priests, clergymen, clergywomen and followers in the diocese. He also expressed hope that the bishop and priests of the diocese would continue encouraging Catholics to actively participate in local patriotic emulation movements for the socio-economic development in the country.
Hai Phong diocese covers Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh and Hai Duong provinces, and part of Hung Yen province. The diocese has 78 religious priests, 5 secular priests, 6 congregations and nearly 300.000 followers, with 86 parishes and 360 churches.
