GCRA Chairman Phạm Dũng and Cardinal Pierre Nguyễn Văn Nhơn

Joining the delegation were Vice Chairman of the GCRA Dương Ngọc Tấn and representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, Hanoi Police Department and Hanoi Committee for Religious Affairs.

 Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli – non-resident special envoy of the Vatican to Vietnam; Bishop Hoàng Văn Đạt of Bac Ninh diocese; Bishop Nguyễn Chí Linh of Thanh Hoa diocese; Bishop Vũ Văn Thiên of Hai Phong diocese, Bishop Đặng Đức Ngân of Lang Son diocese; Auxiliary Bishop Chu Van Minh and priests of Hanoi Archdiocese welcomed the GCRA delegation.

At the reception, Chairman Phạm Dũng took the occasion to congratulate Hanoi’s Archbishop Pierre Nguyễn Văn Nhơn on being newly ordained as a Cardinal by the Pope and refer a congratulatory letter sent by Pope Francis to the GCRA on occasion of the Vietnam traditional New Year. He also expressed hope that in his new position, the Cardinal will join with Catholics of Hanoi Archdiocese to make further practical contributions to the construction of a prosperous country of Vietnam.
