Government religious affairs committee pays pre-Tet visit to Vietnam Buddhist Sangha

A delegation led by Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng paid on January 20 a visit to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), ahead of Lunar New Year 2020.  

Welcoming the delegation at the headquarter of the VBS based in Quan Su pagoda included Most Venerables Thích Thanh Nhiễu and Thích Gia Quang, Vice Presidents of the Central VBS’s Executive Council, Senior Venerable General Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Đức Thiện, Most Venerable Chief of the VBS’s Central Office Thích Thanh Điện.

During the visit, while extending Tet greetings to all dignitaries, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Vice Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng expressed hope the Buddhist dignitaries would continue guiding Buddhist followers to promote fine traditions for social cohesion and national unity.

He also informed about new directives of the Prime Minister regarding paying services at Buddhist places in the New Year and external Buddhist affairs in 2020.

On the occasion, the GCRA leader visited the VBS’s Electronic Operation Centre. The e-operation centre launched on January 12 aims to improve the VBS’s work effectiveness and connect the central VBS with Buddhist chapters, boards and monasteries in provinces and cities in the country.
