Government religion committee inspects review of three-year implementation of religious law in An Giang

A delegation of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) led by Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ánh Chức visited on April 17 the southern province of An Giang for inspecting the review of the implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion and its guiding Decree 162 in the last three years.
During the visit, the GCRA delegation had a working meeting with An Giang provincial government delegation headed by Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Trần Anh Thư and joint by representatives of concerning provincial departments, agencies and district authorities in the province.
At the working meeting, after briefly reporting the three-year implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion enacted in 2016 and its guiding decree from 2018 to 2020, the provincial government of An Giang put forward recommendations relating the possible issuance of a regulation for sanctions of administrative violations in the field of belief and religion, the consideration and approval of defined maximum and minimum allocations of land for a religious worshipping place, and a revised and detailed regulation for the state administration of folk beliefs.
Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ánh Chức spoke highly of the implementation of the new law on belief and religion and its guiding decree 162 by the provincial government of An Giang, and asked the provincial authorities to speed up the inspection of the law implementation in the province in order to timely guide and solve difficulties and practical problems at the grassroots level.

An Giang is currently home to over 1.57 million religious followers, accounting for 82.7% of the provincial population and belonging to 11 religions, with 518 places of religious worship.
