Government Committee for Religious Affairs receives representative from the Glocal Ventures, Inc (US)

On August 6, 2014, at the headquarters of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), Dr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice Chairman of the GCRA received Mr. Bob Roberts from the Glocal Ventures, Inc (GVI).

Attending the meeting were also officials from the Department of International Cooperation and the Committee Office.

Glocal Ventures, Inc. (GVI) is a non-profit organization of the United States with the mission to serve Vietnamese people. GVI’s strategy mobilizes volunteers in Vietnam to implements development projects such as: taking care of orphans, special education project.... GVI is based in Keller, Texas (in the Dallas-Fort Worth area) and has a representative office in Hanoi.

Overview of the meeting

At the reception, Mr. Bob Roberts said his visit aims to learn about religious situation in Vietnam and look forward to cooperation opportunities with the Government Committee for Religious on religious issues as well as promote friendly cooperation between Vietnam and United States in the coming time. He highly valued freedom of belief and religion in Vietnam.

Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà welcomed Mr. Bob Roberts’ visit and briefed the guest on the religious situation in Vietnam as well as the guidelines and policies of the Party and State on belief and religion over the past time. He said that the highest goals of religious policies in Vietnam are to help religious organizations to preserve their positive cultural values as well as conduct religious activities in accordance with the law and ensure stability and harmony between religions. Currently, Vietnam is building the law on belief and religion to realize these goals and guarantee citizens’ right to freedom of belief and religion. Religion in Vietnam is very diverse. Religions in Vietnam co-exist in harmony.
