Government Committee for Religious Affairs meets representatives of Protestant organizations in Ho Chi Minh city

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2014, on January 21, 2014, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a meeting with leaders and dignitaries of eight recognized Protestant organizations to review their performance in 2013 and discuss plans for 2014.
Attending the event were Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân, Vice Chairman of the GCRA, Mrs. Hoàng Thị Thảo, Head of the GCRA’s Department of Protestant Affairs, and Mr. Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Religious Affairs.
The meeting heard reports on the performance of the Protestant organizations in Vietnam in 2013. The organizations implemented many religious activities and strengthened their apparatus, especially those in Central Highlands and southern provinces. Their activities became more stable in line with the law. Besides religious activities, the Protestant organizations actively took part in the patriotic movements in the localities, charitable and social activities as well as fully implemented the rights and obligations of religious citizens.
In the open atmosphere and sincere dialogue, the delegates exchanged views and proposed the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and State management agencies on religion address some obstacles in implementing religious policies in the localities
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân acknowledged the achievements the Protestant organizations reaped in 2013 and noted their proposals relating to land, worshipping places, religious activities at meeting places and the establishment of chapters (local churches)…. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2014, he wished all Protestant dignitaries and followers good health, happiness and success.
