Government Committee for Religious Affairs holds a conference to review religious affairs in the provinces, cities of Southern Vietnam in the first six months of 2014 and approves the working plan for the last six months.

On July 18th, at Cần Thơ city, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) in collaborating with Cần Thơ city’s People’s Committee held a conference to review religious affairs in the provinces, cities of Southerrn Vietnam in the first six months and approve the working plan for the last six months.

Attending the conference were Mr. Dương Ngọc Tấn, Vice Chairman of GCRA, Mr. Phạm Gia Túc, Deputy Secretary of Cần Thơ city’s Party Committee, Mr. Lê Văn Tâm, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Cần Thơ city; representatives from the GCRA’s departments, and provincial Committees for Religious Affairs of all provinces and cities in the South of Vietnam.

On behalf of the GCRA, Mr. Dương Ngọc Tấn outlined key issues to be discussed at the conference including: assessment of the religious affairs in the first six months, targets and tasks for the last six months, tasks regarding to Caodaism, and basic contents to be adjusted in drafting law on belief and religion.

At the conference, delegates heard reports on the religious situation and results of the first six-month work of the State management on religion sector in 2014 and the working plan for the last six months, as well as reports on activities of Catholicism, Caodaism, Hoa Hao Buddhism.

In the conclusion, Mr. Dương Ngọc Tấn, Vice Chairman of the GCRA acknowledged comments from local officials and requested the provincial Committees for Religious Affairs to concentrate on main tasks in last six months of 2014: actively comprehending the religious situation; guiding religions to organize the conferences in compliance with the State law and religious Charter; strengthening the communication and coordination among various levels of State authorities, effectively solving religion-related issues./.
