GCRA’s official visits Vietnam Adventist church

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) cum Head of the Home Affairs Ministry’s working group Nguyễn Tiến Trọng on September 23 visited and met with the Vietnam Adventist Church in Ho Chi Minh City’s Phu Nhuan district.  

The GCRA’s vice chairman accompanied by Director of GCRA’s Southern Religious Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh and Vice Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City Nguyễn Hoàng Giang was welcomed by Pastor President of the Vietnam Adventist Church Trần Thanh Truyện at Phu Nhuan church in the city.

During the welcoming reception, Pastor Trần Thanh Truyện informed the guests efforts of the Baptist church in the Covid-19 prevention and control, and its charity activities over the past years. He also shared about the organization of the 4th general assembly of the Vietnam Adventist Church when the pandemic is under control.

Speaking with the host, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng spoke highly of practical efforts made by the Adventist church and Pastor President Trần Thanh Truyện in preventing the pandemic spread and encouraging its members to proactively engage in charities during the epidemic outbreak in the city. While conveying his greetings to the church’s members who are receiving Covid-19 treatment, the GCRA official expressed hope that the Adventist church would continue observing the pandemic preventive measures and encouraging members to actively participate in social charities for helping disadvantaged people. The vice chairman also had exchanges on preparations of the church’s next general assembly based the practical situation of the pandemic and in accordance with the Law on Belief and Religion.

During the reception, he presented a package of support to the Adventist church for encouraging members of the church infected with the Covid-19 to overcome the infection.

Speaking with the guests, Pastor Trần Thanh Truyện thanked the Home Affairs Ministry and the GCRA for due attention and supports extended to the Vietnam Adventist church and its members. He also stated that the Adventist church will continue well implementing preventive measures against Covid-19 pandemic, actively respond to the one million gift set campaign launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and early complete the dossier for the church’s upcoming general assembly.
