On December 8, Leader of the Church of Jesus Christ-Day Saints in Asia region Elder Gerrit W. Gong led a delegation to visit the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) on the occasion of ending his working tenure in Asia region.
Welcoming the delegation included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the GCRA Phạm Dũng, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà, and Heads of the International Relation Department and Protestant Affairs Department.
At the meeting reception, Mr. Gerrit W. Gong thanked the GCRA for its support extended to the Church’s activities in the past years. He also expressed his pleasure at the fine development of relations between the Vietnamese State and religions.
He also shared about the Church’s missionary regulation for respecting traditions and laws of host countries. He also expressed hope that in the coming time there will have an organization to take over the management of missionary branches under the Church of Jesus Christ-Day Saints in Vietnam.
During the reception, Mr. Phạm Dũng spoke highly of the contributions made by the Church in Vietnam and expressed expectation that Mr. Gerrit W. Gong, with his in-depth understanding about Vietnam’s country and its people, would continue to make practical contributions to Vietnam country in general and religions in Vietnam in particular.
