GCRA Vice Chairwoman attend conference on Buddhist affairs in North region

Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Thị Minh Nga attended a Buddhist affairs conference of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in North region held on May 27 in Hanoi.   

The event taking place in Quan Su pagoda saw the participation of Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Thích Thanh Dũng, Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS’s Discernment Council Thích Thanh Đàm and representatives of the VBS executive committees in 29 provinces and cities in the North region.

The event reviewed the VBS’s activities in the five months of 2020. As reported, this year, due to Covid-19 pandemic, the VBS executive committee in provinces and cities has suspended all festivals and limited scales of large gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus, strictly implemented preventive measures against the pandemic and mobilized Buddhists’ support and assistance for buying equipments and supplies for the Covid-19 fighting work.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga highlighted practical contributions of the VBS in the country’s fight against COVID-19.

The Vice Chairwoman asked members of the VBS’s Discernment Council, Executive Council and executive committee in provinces and cities to promote fine traditions of Buddhism and encourage followers to observe the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, contributing to the socio-economic development in the country.

Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga also stated that the GCRA and concerning authorities will create favorable conditions for Buddhist practices in accordance with the regulations and Charter of the Buddhist church and State laws.
