GCRA Vice Chairman visits Vietnam Presbyterian Church

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) cum Head of the Home Affairs Ministry’s working group Nguyễn Tiến Trọng on September 27 visited and met with the Vietnam Presbyterian Church in Ho Chi Minh City.

The GCRA official accompanied by Director of GCRA’s Southern Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh was welcomed by Pastor President of the Presbyterian Church Trần Quốc Bảo at the church office located in HCMC’s District No.8.

At the welcoming reception, Pastor Trần Quốc Bảo informed the guest efforts of the Presbyterian Church in the Covid-19 prevention and control, and its charitable activities over the past months. He also highlighted key affairs of the church’s executive committee in the new term and achievements recorded over the past years.

Speaking at the visiting reception, Vice Chairman of the government religious committee Nguyễn Tiến Trọng spoke highly of the Vietnam Presbyterian Church’s efforts in the pandemic prevention and social charities during the epidemic outbreak in the city. The GCRA official expressed his hope the Presbyterian Church would strictly observe the pandemic preventive measures, promote unity and well guide its members to implement the resolution of its general conference, including the completion of the church’s revised according to current provisions of related laws.    

Expressing sympathy over difficulties that the Presbyterian Church has faced due to Covid-19, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng presented the church a package of support for encouraging members of the church affected by the pandemic to overcome the pandemic impacts.

On behalf of the executive body of the Vietnam Presbyterian Church, Pastor President Trần Quốc Bảo thanked the Government Committee for Religious Affairs for its due attention and support extended to the Presbyterian Church and its members affected with Covid-19. He also affirmed that the executive committee of the church will continue joining hands with the local authorities and agencies in the pandemic prevention and social welfare work, and early complete its revised charter for approval by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs./.
