The GCRA official accompanied by Director of GCRA’s Southern Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh and Deputy Director of the municipal Committee for Religious Affairs of the city Nguyễn Duy Tân was welcomed by Pastor President of the Baptist church Nguyễn Võ Khánh Giám at the church office located in HCMC’s Thu Duc city.

At the welcoming reception, Pastor Nguyễn Võ Khánh informed the guest efforts of the Baptist church in the Covid-19 prevention and control, and its charitable activities over the past months. He also highlighted some results of the church in the third tenure and planned activities in the coming time, including the general assembly of the Baptist church in 2022 when the pandemic is under control.

Speaking at the visiting reception, Vice Chairman of the government religious committee Nguyễn Tiến Trọng spoke highly of the Baptist church’s efforts in preventing the pandemic spread and encouraging its members to proactively engage in social charities during the epidemic outbreak in the city. While conveying his greetings to the church’s members who are receiving Covid-19 treatment, the official expressed his hope the Vietnam Baptist Church would conscientiously observe the pandemic preventive measures, take well care of its members and closely join state authorities in the combating the epidemic and providing social welfares to disadvantaged people.     

Expressing sympathy over losses that the Baptist church has suffered due to Covid-19, he presented the church a package of support for encouraging members of the church infected with the Covid-19 to overcome the infection’s impacts, and make preparations of the church’s next general assembly based the practical situation of the pandemic and in accordance with the Law on Belief and Religion.

On behalf of the executive body of the Vietnam Baptist Church, Pastor President Nguyễn Võ Khánh Giám thanked the Government Committee for Religious Affairs for paying due attention to the Baptist church and its members infected with Covid-19. He also affirmed that the executive committee of the church will continue joining hands with the local authorities and agencies in the pandemic prevention and social welfare work, and early complete preparations, including a revises charter and nominated key personnel, for the church’s upcoming general assembly./.
