GCRA Vice Chairman exchanges with executive bodies of Hoa Hao Buddhism, Islamic Community in An Giang

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Ánh Chức on May 27 visited and had separate exchanges with the executive committee of Hoa Hao Buddhist Church and the representative committee of the Islamic community in An Giang.  

Welcoming the GCRA’s official included Chairman of the central executive committee of Hoa Hao Buddhism Nguyễn Tấn Đạt and Head of the representative committee of the Islamic community in An Giang Haji Jacky.

At the exchanges, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ánh Chức extended congratulations to the Hoa Hao Buddhist and Islamic committees for achievements recorded over the past years, and spoke highly of social, charitable programs of the two religious communities in localities.

He also praised leaders and members of the two religious organizations for their efforts and supports in the Covid-19 prevention and control work, and congratulated local Muslims for completing the observation of the holy month of Ramadan with strict measures for preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

As reported at the exchange meeting with Hoa Hao Buddhist central committee,  Hoa Hao Buddhism currently has 17 provincial-level executive committees and 400 local executive boards with 50 worshipping places; the construction of the first Hoa Hao Buddhist School has been kicked off and the school is scheduled to make its first enrolment in late 2021; the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church in An Giang has presented supports valued at VND 797 million to local authorities for the nCov fight.

According to Head of the Islamic representative committee Haji Jacky, the Islamic community in An Giang has made contributions worth over 1.8 billion VND for supporting the poor and the nCov fighting effort, including building five charitable houses for the disadvantaged, presenting VND 20 million to the fund raised for the Covid-19 prevention and control, and handing out rice and necessities to the most vulnerable locals.
