GCRA receives Korean Full Gospel Church delegation

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng hosted on February 26 a reception for a visiting delegation of the Yoido Full Gospel Church from the republic of Korea (RoK).

The Yoido church delegation was led by Pastor Lee Young Hoon, Head of the church cum President of the Good People International (GPI) in Vietnam.

During the visiting reception, Pastor Lee Young Hoon shared with the GCRA official about the Yoido Full Gospel Church which was one of the largest Protestant churches in the RoK, and activities of the GPI - the Korean non-governmental organization operating in Vietnam since 2005 in fields of supporting the construction of schools, public health clinics, vocational training for women in rural areas and sponsoring children in disadvantaged localities.

Speaking with the guest, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng informed the religious life in Vietnam and the State’s policies and laws on religion in the country. The official highly appreciated practical contributions by Yoido Full Gospel Church, and other Christian associations and NGOs of the RoK for helping the disadvantaged in Vietnam over the past years.

Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng reaffirmed the consistent policies of Vietnam in ensuring freedom of belief and religion for everyone, including foreigners legally residing in Vietnam in general and those from the RoK in particular.

He also mentioned that there were nearly 60 Protestant congregations from the RoK legally registered in Vietnam, and expressed hope that the Yoido Full Gospel Church and other Protestant sects from the RoK would continue offering charitable and social assistance for sustainable development in Vietnam, and promoting their roles for boosting friendship between Vietnam and RoK.
