Chief of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA)’s Office Nguyễn Văn Long hosted a reception on December 18 for visiting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs Atul Keshap during his working trip to Vietnam.
Joining at the reception included Deputy Director of the GCRA’s International Relations Affairs Ngô Thị Xuân Lan.
At the reception, Chief of the GCRA’s office Nguyễn Văn Long had exchanges with the guest on efforts of the state of Vietnam in protecting people’s legitimate rights and interests, including freedom of belief and religion.
Regarding the Law on Belief and Religion, the GCRA in collaboration with local authorities has organized 2,000 workshops guiding implementation of the Law over the country, he said.
The Chief of the GCRA’s office also affirmed that the GCRA always stays open to exchanges and dialogue on the religious life in the country in order to help world countries including the US better understand the religious situation in Vietnam.
During the reception, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Atul Keshap shared that he had read reports acknowledging positive changes of the religious life in Vietnam after nearly two years implementing the Law on Belief and Religion. He also extended congratulations to Vietnam on achievements in the religious field over the past years.
