Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Bùi Thanh Hà received on Jan 7 a delegation from the Korean Protestant community in Hanoi headed by Mr. Lee Sang Mo, Vice Chairman of the Republic of Korea (RoK)-Vietnam Friendship Association.
At the reception meeting, Vice Chairman Lee Sang Mo shared about religious activities of the Korean Protestant community in Hanoi in 2018 as well as working plans in 2019.
According to Vice Chairman Lee Sang Mo, since the Law on Belief and Religion 2016 took effect in January 2018, religious practices of the Protestant community in Vietnam have been favorably conducted as the community was registered for collective religious practices in April 2018, and the representative pastor of the community has been granted visa for his religious practices in Vietnam.
On behalf of Representative Pastor of the Protestant community Tae Won Su, Vice Chairman Lee Sang Mo thanked the GCRA for its support extended to religious practices of the Korean Protestant community in Hanoi over the past years.
Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà thanked the Protestant delegation for their visit on occasion of the New Year 2019 and ahead of the Vietnam traditional New Year. The Vice Chairman also spoke highly of the Korean Protestant community’s support to the Protestant community in Vietnam and expressed hope that Korean pastors would ensure observance of laws when they come to Vietnam for religious activities.
While expressing his pleasure at the positive development in the relationship between the two countries of Vietnam and Korean, GCRA Vice Chairman stated that the GCRA would always create favorable conditions for Korean people to practice their faith in Vietnam as well as participate in Vietnam – Korean cooperation activities in economic, cultural and social fields in the coming time.
