Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry in charge of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng chaired a ceremony on November 3 for presenting national flags to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at Quan Su pagoda, on occasion of the VBS’s 39th founding anniversary.
Joining the event included Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga; Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Deputy President of the VBS’s Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Deputy President of the VBS’s Executive Council; Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Deputy President cum General Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council, and representatives from the Central Fatherland Front, the Central Commission for Mass Mobilization, and the Department for Homeland Security under the Ministry of Public Security.
During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng congratulated the VBS on its 39th anniversary and presented national flags to the Buddhist church.
The Deputy Minister stressed that since the VBS was established, Vietnamese Buddhism has reached a comprehensive development, not only practically contributing to the socio-economic development and promoting values of cultural heritages but also contributing to enhance Vietnam's position in the international arena.

The GCRA official also expressed hope that the VBS would continue promoting its tradition of accompanying with the nation for building and defending the country.
Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu took the chance to thank the home affairs ministry and the GCRA for due attention paid to affairs the VBS over the past years.
