Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) cum Head of the Home Affairs Ministry’s working group Nguyễn Tiến Trọng paid on September 18 a visit to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Binh Duong province.
Responding a call of the VBS for more Buddhist volunteers to help with Covid-19 fight in Southern provinces, 20 Buddhist monks and nuns of the provincial VBS Chapter in Ninh Binh have voluntarily registered to join Covid-19 frontline forces in localities.
In these registered Buddhists, two Buddhist monastics have been joining Covid-19 fight at field hospitals in Long An province and Ho Chi Minh city. Two monks and one nun started joining frontline forces against Covid-19 at the field hospital 13 under Vietnam-German Friendship Hospital located in Binh Hung commune, Ho Chi Minh city’s Binh Chanh district on September 21.

Meeting with voluntary monastics in Thanh Hoa province
The VBS Chapter in Thanh Hoa province held on September 17 a meeting to see off Buddhist monastics volunteering to join the frontline forces against Covid-19 in Long An province.
On the first batch, the VBS’s Executive Council has approved the registration of five Buddhist monks of the VBS Chapter in Thanh Hoa province who begin joining the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Long An province on September 21.
Earlier, the VBS Chapter in Nghe An also held on September 16 a ceremony to meet with voluntary monks joining frontline forces against the pandemic in Ho Chi Minh city

All these Buddhist volunteers have undergone a training course for taking care Covid-19 patients, been vaccinated against Covid-19, as well as received negative results of Covid-19 tests.
