GCRA leaders pay pre-Tet visits to Buddhist, Catholic dignitaries in several provinces, cities

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng extended on January 12 visits to Buddhist and Catholic leaders in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces, ahead of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) 2020.
The delegation visited and met with Archbishop of Hue Archdiocese Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, Most Venerable Vice President of the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council Thích Khế Chơn and Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Quang Tri province Thích Thiện Tấn.
During the visits, while extending Tet greetings to the religious leaders and all Buddhist and Catholic followers in the two provinces, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng spoke highly of practical contributions made by the religious dignitaries, and Buddhists and Catholics for socio-economic development and social charities in the localities.
The chairman also expressed hope the Catholic Archbishop would continue guiding Catholic followers in Vietnam Catholic Church in general and Hue Archdiocese in particular to promote fine traditions for social cohesion and national unity and asked the Vietnam Buddhist Church to pay more attention to issues mentioned by the press and society over the past time.

Early, from January 10-11, a delegation led by Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga visited and extended Tet greetings to Most Venerable Deputy President of the Central VBS’s Executive Council Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the Central VBS’s Discernment Council Thích Thanh Dũng, and the VBS’s executive committee in Bac Ninh province.
