GCRA leader pays pre-Tet visit to Buddhist dignitaries in Tien Giang

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Ánh Chức visited on January 31 the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Tien Giang province ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2021.  

Accompany with the GCRA’s official included Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thị Mai.

Most Venerable Thích Huệ Minh, Member of the VBS’s Executive Council, Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee warm welcomed the GCRA’s Vice Chairman at the committee office based in Vinh Trang pagoda in My Phong commune, My Tho city.

During the visit, while extending traditional New Year greetings to Buddhist dignitaries and followers, Director Nguyễn Ánh Chức spoke highly of practical contributions made by local Buddhists to socio-economic development in the locality. He asked the VBS to strictly take preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic as guided by the Government and the VBS’s Executive Council, as well as encourage followers to proactively join in social movements and programs launched by local authorities.

Most Venerable Thích Huệ Minh took the chance to thank the GCRA for creating favorable conditions for Buddhist affairs in Tien Giang over the past year and informed that local Buddhists in the province have contributed nearly 70 billion VND for social and charitable works last year.

The Most Venerable also sent Tet greetings to the Vice Chairman, and all GCRA’s officials and staff.
