Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Bùi Thanh Hà hosted a meeting on November 14 for religious dignitaries who are deputies of the 14th National Assembly.
The religious deputies attending the event included Most Venerable Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Quyết, Priest of St. Joseph Church in Binh Duong province Nguyễn Văn Riễn, Principal Archbishop Head of the White Cloth Caodai Church in Kien Giang province Trần Văn Huynh, Nun Member of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích nữ Tín Liên and Venerable Abbott of Som Rông Pagoda in Soc Trang province Lý Đức.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà stated that the Party and State always affirm the consistent policy for ensuring people’s right to freedom of belief and religion and create favorable conditions for religions to co-exist in harmony in the community of ethnic groups. He also acknowledged social and charitable contributions of religions over the past years.
Regarding to the draft Law on belief and religion, Mr. Hà asked the religious deputies to continue supporting its consideration and approval in the current NA session.
During the meeting, Principal Archbishop Trần Văn Huynh praised the GCRA and all-level authorities for their supports in building and upgrading religious facilities as well as favorable conditions for religious training and other religious practices.
This is the first time the GCRA hosted a meeting with religious dignitaries as NA deputies and Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà suggested to annually organize meetings with religious deputies for further reflecting opinions from their own and their religious organizations.
