Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng paid a visit on October 13 to Thanh Hoa Diocese which hosted the second annual meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam (CBCV).
Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng, accompanied by Vice Chairman of the GCRA Dương Ngọc Tấn, Deputy Secretary of Thanh Hoa provincial Party Committee Đỗ Minh Tuấn and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phạm Đăng Quyền, was warmly welcomed by Archbishop President of the CBCV Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, Cardinal Archbishop of Hanoi Archdiocese Pierre Nguyễn Văn Nhơn and Archbishop of Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese Paul Bùi Văn Đọc.
Speaking during a visiting reception, while extending congratulatory wishes to dignitaries and followers of the Vietnam Catholic Church on occasion of the CBCV’s annual meeting, the GCRA Chairman stated that as part of the national unity bloc, the Vietnamese Catholic community have made many contributions to the country. He called on the Catholic church to continue promoting fine traditions for national construction and defense. The GCRA leader also took the chance to extend congratulations to Thanh Hoa Diocese on occasion of its 85th founding anniversary.
On behalf of the Vietnam Catholic bishop conference and Thanh Hoa diocese, Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, President of the CBCV cum Archbishop of Hue thanked the government religious committee and Thanh Hoa provincial government for their visit and support.
On occasion of the working visit to Thanh Hoa Province, Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng led a GCRA delegation at a meeting with Thanh Hoa provincial Party Committee where the two sides focused on strengthening the coordination in the state governance on religion between the government religious committee and the provincial government.
