The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on July 24 in Can Tho city’s Ninh Kieu district a seminar on the six-month implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion and its guiding decree No. 162.
The seminar was chaired by Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and attended by members of the GCRA's Scientific Council, representative leaders of the municipal departments and agencies and 120 delegates representing sectors of mass mobilization, fatherland front, police and state management on religion from 19 provinces and cities in Vietnam South.

Difficulties and challenges in the implementation of the new belief and religious law in localities pointed out during the seminar included different interpretation of several concepts in the law, the judicial certification, the registration of religious collective practicing places, appointment and nomination of religious dignitaries and deacons, collective religious practices of the foreigners who lawfully reside in Viet Nam and non-commercial legal entity of religious organizations, etc.
During the seminar, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà highly appreciated comments of seminar participants and gave explanations on several practical issues.
The seminar aimed for the government religious committee to gather comments and seek solutions for possible obstacles in the process of implementing the belief and religious law and its guiding decree in localities.
