GCRA extends congratulations to 6th congress of Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng led on November 15 a delegation to attend to the 6th general congress of the Vietnam Conference of Major Superiors of Religious.

Speaking the event, while extending congratulations on the success of the congress and newly-elected members of the executive committee of the religious council for 2018-2021 tenure, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng highly appreciated contributions in the fields of charity, health and education of the Catholic congregations and orders over the past years, and called on the council to promote its fine traditions as well as make innovations for further contributions to the social development in the country.

 The GCRA Chairman also took the chance to share about results of the recent working trip of Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình to Vatican where he had meetings with Pope Francis and Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

The 5th general congress of the Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious took place in the Saint Martin Monastery under the Vietnam Dominique Congregation located in Dong Nai province from November 12-15 with the participation of 147 delegates who are superiors and representatives of Catholic congregations and orders in Vietnam.
