A delegation of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) paid a visit on December 20 to the Vietnam Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints (LDS Church) in its head office in Hanoi, on occasion of Christmas 2017 and New Year 2018.
Welcoming the delegation led by Acting Director of the GCRA’s Department of Protestant Affairs Thiều Thị Hương included Chairman of the representative committee of the Vietnam LDS Church Hoàng Văn Tùng and Latter – Day Saint Charities (LDSC) Country Director for Viet Nam Gerald Lee Thomason.
Overview of the reception
During the reception, Acting Director Thiều Thị Hương extended a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year to dignitaries and followers of the Vietnam LDS Church as well as to followers of LDS who are practicing their faith in Vietnam.
GCRA’s representatives also exchanged with and Mr. Gerald Lee Thomason the operation of LDSC in Vietnam. According to the Director of LDSC in Vietnam, LDSC has implemented more than 30 charity projects in 2017, focusing on disaster relief, clean water support, donation of over 20,000 wheelchairs and school toilet building in difficult areas in Vietnam, with a total value amounted to USD 1.5 million.
