GCRA Chairman receives Mormon leader for Asian region

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng received on January 18 a delegation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) led by Elder President of the LDS Church in Asia region Randy D. Funk.

During the reception Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng exchanged with the guests the Vietnam’s Law on Belief and Religion that has taken effect on January 1. He stated the Vietnam State always implements the consistent policy for respecting and safeguarding the religious freedom and religious equality in the country, and create favorable conditions for religious practices and social activities of religious individuals and organizations.

The GCRA leader also hailed contributions to social welfares by the LDS Church in Vietnam and took the chance to convey congratulations to President Russell M. Nelson on his new post as the 17th leader of the LDS Church.

Eldly President Randy D. Funk took the chance to congratulate Mr. Vũ Chiến Thắng on his new post as the new chairman of Vietnam Government’s religious committee and thank the GCRA for its support extended to the Vietnam LDS church over the past years.

The LDS Asian leader also shared with the host social, charitable activities of the LDS Church in Vietnam in 2017, which included donation of wheelchairs to people with disabilities, support to the poor and victims of natural calamity, etc that worth around one million USD.
