GCRA Chairman receives Mormon Church delegation

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc received on January 6 a delegation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Asia led by Elder Homer P. David, Member of the LDS church’s Asia Presidency, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2023.

GCRA Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc (R) exchanges with Elder Homer P. David

Speaking with the guests, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc thanked the LDS Church delegation for its visit, ahead of Tet Festival 2023.

The Chairman also hailed charity programs sponsored by the LDS church in Vietnam and stated that the State of Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for religion to operate and promotes resources of religious organizations for socio-economic development of the country.

Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc expressed that the LDS Church would continue implementing social welfare projects in Vietnam and encouraging its members to make practical contributions for socio-economic development of the country.

For his part, Elder Homer P. David thanked the GCRA for its support extended to the Vietnam LDS church over the past years and shared with the host activities of the LDS Church and the Church community in Vietnam.

He informed that the LDS Church spent over 1.5 million USD on social charities in Vietnam in 2022.

On the occasion, Elder Homer P. David extended Tet greetings to GCRA’s officials and staff, and invited to the GCRA leader to visit the LDS Church in the United States in the coming time.
