Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng received on October 17 a delegation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Asia led by Elder Homer P. David, Member of the LDS church’s Asia Presidency.
Joining the delegation included Head of the Representative Committee of the LDS church in Viet Nam Hoàng Văn Tùng.

During the reception, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng took the chance to thank the LDS church for the warm reception extended to the GCRA delegation during its visit to the church in the US State of Utah from June 3 – 9.
The Chairman also hailed charity programs sponsored by the LDS church in Vietnam and informed the current policy and law of Vietnam on belief and religion, stating that the State of Vietnam always respect and safeguard people’s right to freedom of belief and religion.
For his part, Elder Homer P. David thanked the GCRA for its support extended to the Vietnam LDS church over the past years and expressed hope that the GCRA would continue guiding the church in Vietnam in administration procedures for operation registration in accordance with the law provisions of Vietnam.
He also shared with the host the visit of President of the LDS Church Russell M. Nelson to four Asian countries including Vietnam in November this year.
