Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng led a delegation on January 25 to visit the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Chapter in Thanh Hoa province, on occasion of the upcoming traditional New Year festival.
Joining the visit included Director of the GCRA’s Department of Buddhist Affairs Bùi Hữu Dược and Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Hải Vinh.
Senior Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Tâm Đức welcomed the GCRA delegation at the committee office based in Thanh Ha pagoda.
While extending New Year’s greetings to Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng praised local Buddhists for their practical contributions to social charities in the province.
As reported, in 2017, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province has contributed about VND 24 billion to social and charitable activities, including provision of free health checks and medicine for poor people and building of charity houses.
