On April 21, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Phạm Dũng led a delegation to visit and extend wishes to Bishop Jean Baptiste Bùi Tuần on occasion of 40th anniversary of his bishopric ordainment.
Joining the delegation included Vice Chairman of GCRA Dương Ngọc Tấn and local authorities’ representatives.
Jean Baptiste Bùi Tuần was named as Coadjutor Bishop of Long Xuyen diocese on April 15, 1975, became Bishop of the diocese on Dec. 22, 1997 and then served the diocese for six years till 2003.
Bishop Bùi Tuần was also known as a writer, a poet, with many his works posted and published, including the book "Contemplation" composed of his writings in a long time and published by Ho Chi Minh city Publishing on April 30, 2007.
At the reception, GCRA Chairman Phạm Dũng acknowledged practical contributions made by Bishop Bùi Tuần to Long Xuyen diocese in particularly and the Church in general and to the relation between the Party and State and the Church and its followers.
