GCRA appraises project on surveying Catholic congregations in Vietnam

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on December 6 a meeting for an initial assessment of a project “Survey current Catholic congregations in Vietnam – Recommendations and solutions”.  

The meeting was presided by Prof. Dr Đỗ Quang Hưng from  the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under Vietnam National University of Hanoi cum Head of the Initial Appraisal Council.

Attending the event included Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Tiến Trọng, members of the Initial Appraisal Council, the Editor Board of the project and representatives from the GCRA’s departments.

Deputy Director of the Catholic Affairs Department Đào Thị Đượng informed that the project has focused several issues such as viewpoints of Catholic Church on congregations, some current Vietnam Catholic congregations, the present situation of Catholic congregations and the state administration on congregations, as well as recommended solutions for the State management on Catholic congregations.

During the event, members of the initial appraisal council spoke highly of the practical results of the project and gave comments on some contents related to the concept and classification of Catholic congregations, recommended solutions for the State administration on Catholic congregations.
