The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on December 10 a meeting for an initial assessment of the project relating practices of religion and belief by overseas Vietnamese communities.
The meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Initial Appraisal Council Vũ Chiến Thắng saw the presence of Prof., Dr. Đỗ Quang Hưng from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University; Vice Chairman of the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lương Thanh Nghị; Lieutenant-General Assoc. Prof., Dr. Trần Quý Thắng from the Ministry of Public Security; Vice Chairman of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilisation Đỗ Văn Phới; representatives from concerning ministries, central agencies and the GCRA.
During the meeting, Dr. Lê Thị Liên, Director of the Institute for Religious Policy Studies under the GCRA presented a brief report on results of the project relating religion, belief of overseas Vietnamese communities, including advantages, difficulties and recommend solutions.

Members of the appraisal council highly appreciated the theoretical and practical implications of the project which has provided nine solutions and seven proposals to concerning ministries and agencies.
Addressing at the meeting, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng asked for specific and feasible solutions based on the state law of Vietnam and countries where Vietnamese people reside and practice belief and religion, as well as a promotion of domestic religious organizations’ role for supporting overseas Vietnamese communities in belief and religious practices in Vietnam.
