Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng extends congratulations to VBS on occasion of its 40th anniversary

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng paid a visit on November 5 to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at Quan Su pagoda on occasion of the VBS’s 40th founding anniversary.  

The Deputy Minister accompanied by Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Trần Thị Minh Nga was welcomed by Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the VBS’ Central Executive Council, Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Vice President of the VBS’ Central Executive Council cum Head of VBS’s Central Information and Communication Committee and Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the VBS’s Central Executive Council.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng presented the flower bouquet sent by Minister of Home Affairs Phạm Thị Thanh Trà and extended congratulations to dignitaries, deacons and lay Buddhists on occasion of the VBS’s 40th founding anniversary.

Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng also recalled the VBS’s founding event taking place in November 1981, which featured the aspiration of all Vietnamese Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers at that time.

According to Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng, the VBS has not only fully inherited the thousands-of-years tradition of Buddhism but also promoted its influence and social responsibility in the country and made practical contributions to the national construction and defense over the past 40 years.

The deputy minister and most venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu also had exchanges on the preparation for the celebration of the VBS’s 40th anniversary held on November 7, in which most venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu took the chance to thank the effective guiding and support extended by the Home Affairs Ministry and the GCRA to the VBS.
