Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng extends greetings to VBS on Vu Lan festival

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng on August 28 visited and extended greetings to dignitaries of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council at its Office in Hanoi, ahead of the Vu Lan - Buddhist Parents’ Day Festival 2023 (B.E.2567).

The Deputy Minister accompanied by Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Thị Minh Nga was welcomed by Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu.

During the visit, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng extended warm celebrations of Vu Lan Festival to leaders of the VBS and all monks, nuns and lay Buddhists across the country and abroad and asked them to continue to accompanying with the nation, following the motto “Dharma – Nation - Socialism”, proactively contributing to build a more powerful and prosperous country.

The Deputy Minister also had exchanges with Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu and members of the VBS’s Executive Council on Buddhist affairs in the last months of 2023 including preparation works for the Vietnam Laos- Cambodia Buddhist Leaders' Conference in the coming time.

For his part, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu took the chance to thank the Deputy Minister for his visit ahead of Vu Lan Festival 2023. He also informed the guests results of recent Buddhist practices and charitable activities, including summer courses in Buddhist pagodas and monasteries, events to pay tribute to martyrs on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

On the occasion, Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga presented floral congratulations to the VBS ahead of Vu Lan Festival 2023.
