The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on March 17 a conference in Ho Chi Minh city to gather opinions from religious organizations on issues relating to belief and religious land regulated in the draft revised land law.

The event was presided by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng and Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Hoài Bắc, and attended by Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Tiến Trọng, representatives from religious organizations.
During the conference, religious participants agreed that it is necessary to revise the Land Law in order to overcome the shortcomings, problems and inadequacies of the law, and improve the legal mechanism related to land used by organizations and individuals, including religious organizations, as well as ensure the consistency between the Land Law and concerning legal regulations.
Addressing at the event, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng stressed that the importance of collecting people’s opinions to the draft revised Land Law in order to enhance the effectiveness regarding the implementation of the law in practices and thanked religious organizations’ opinions on the draft revised Land Law, especially provisions relating to religious land.
The Deputy Minister expressed hope that religious dignitaries would encourage lay followers to raise comments on the draft revised Land Law in order to ensure the revised law suiting for practical requirements and legitimate interests of the people.
