During a visiting reception held on September 12 at the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA)’s headquarters, Most Venerable Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu congratulated Mr. Vũ Chiến Thắng on being promoted as the new Chairman of the GCRA.
Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu also took the chance to share with the GCRA’s new Chairman the VBS’s Buddhist affairs in the coming time, including the 8th National Buddhist Congress for 2017-2022 tenure, expected to be held in November, 2017.
Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng thanked the Buddhist leader for the visit and congratulation, and praised Buddhist monks, nuns and followers for their contributions to socio-economic development in the country over the past years. He also stated that the GCRA always creates favorable conditions for religious practices of religions in general and Buddhism in particular.
