Given ongoing difficulties caused by currentdrought and saltwater intrusion in Tien Giang province, Ven. Thích Thanh Bình has successfully raised supports for sending 40 cubic meters of fresh water to residents of Vinh Huu commune in the province’s Go Cong Tay district on April 18.
According to the monkfrom Linh Son pagoda locatedin Vinh Binh town ofTien Giang’s Go Cong district, Go Cong Tay district has suffered from severe drought and saltwater intrusion, since the beginning of 2020,seriouslyaffecting the agriculture and daily life of local people, especially due to the shortage of fresh water.
Every day, with his small truck, monk Thích Thiên Bình drives to get fresh water from donators and then bring them to remote areas and to the homes of the elderly in localities.
Earlier, Ven. Thích Trung Phước, Secretary of the executive board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, chapter in Go Cong Tay district presented 500 big bottles of drinking water to local residents of Thanh Tri commune.
