
Khanh Hoa province will host the sixth Cham Cultural Festival October 17 to 19.
The festival offers an opportunity to honor and introduce the traditional cultural values of the Cham people to both domestic and international audiences. A primary goal of the event is to promote the image of Vietnam as a culturally rich country, with unity and harmony among ethnic groups. This demonstrates the Party and State's commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Cham people.
It also seeks to raise awareness and responsibility in building and developing the Vietnamese culture and people.
In addition, the event aims to promote solidarity among ethnic minorities, particularly the Cham people, in southern and south-central Vietnam, following the recent merger of provincial-level administrative units.
The event is jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Party Committee and People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa, along with relevant agencies such as the central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the National Assembly’s Ethnic Affairs, the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, etc.
Themed “Preserving and promoting the Cham cultural identity in the new era”, the festival consits of six localities of Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, An Giang, and Ho Chi Minh city.
The festival will feature a diverse range of activities including, community art performances, ethnic costume showcases. Highlights also include reenactments of traditional Chăm rituals, demonstrations of handicrafts such as brocade weaving and pottery, and vibrant community art performances, and other sport activities and traditional games of Cham people, etc.
