Xa Tac temple in Mong Cai district, Quang Ninh province, was recognized on April 11 as a national relic. This temple, located at a river confluence next to Vietnam’s border, is considered a cultural landmark that affirms Vietnam’s territorial integrity.

Trần Đình Thành, Deputy Head of the Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said, “Scientific and historical studies of Xa Tac temple give us a profound understanding of the site. It helps infuse patriotism among residents of Vietnam’s northeastern region.”

Xa Tac temple was constructed in late 13th and early 14th century under the Tran dynasty to worship the Land Genie and honor those who reclaimed this area. The temple has undergone numerous restorations. Now it features a triumphal arch hung in front of the altar, the main chamber, houses of civil and military mandarins, a bell tower, a drum tower, and a shrine dedicated to the mountain god.
