Vinh Phuc province: Seminar held on construction of Buddha statue for peace and prosperity

The Institute for Religious Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) and the Vietnam Association of Architects co-organized a seminar on construction of a Buddha statue for peace and prosperity was held on May 29 at Truc Lam Tay Thien monastery.

Attending the event were Director of Buddhist Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Hữu Dược; Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Architects Hoàng Đạo Kính, scholars, researchers representatives of local authorities, and Buddhist dignitaries and followers. 

The Buddha statue for national prosperity and peace is expected to be built at Truc Lam Tay Thien monastery in Dai Dinh commune, Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province. Once completed statue, the statue will be 49m high, made of granite and marble; the statue base will be used as a Buddhist cultural museum for preserving more than 2,000 Buddhist objects.

Through the seminar, the Management Board for the construction of the Buddha statue gathered comments from the architects, artists and construction engineers with the aim to ensure natural landscape and monastery’s architecture.
